Kate, you must have worked some voodoo magic with that last post, because this morning Govenor Swarzenneger signed the Ridley-Tree Condor Preservation Act. The law, introduced by State Assemblyman Pedro Nava, bans the use of center-fire lead ammunition when taking big game or coyotes in California condor habitat. While big game and coyotes are not the only sources of lead to which condors are exposed--small mammals, such as ground squirrels, and upland birds are also a problem, the passage of the Nava bill is a major step forward.
