Tracy Quinn Appointed to Los Angeles MWD Board of Directors

A huge congratulations to my esteemed colleague Tracy Quinn, NRDC’s California Director of Water Efficiency, for her nomination to the Los Angeles Metropolitan Water District Board of Directors by Mayor Eric Garcetti.

Tracy has been working at NRDC for over 8 years on a wide range of water-related issues, including advancing policies to establish long-term water reliability and developing new product standards to improve water efficiency. Prior to NRDC, she worked as a civil engineer helping Southern California communities plan for and build new water infrastructure and protect against pollution. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in agricultural and biological engineering at Cornell University and is a registered civil engineer in California.

Tracy’s work on the  challenges and opportunities in California as the state responded to unprecedented drought has been tremendously impactful in Los Angeles and beyond. Through Tracy’s advocacy, water conservation regulations and standards for water efficiency across California have been bolstered, keeping the State on the right path to meet its sustainability goals. Her successful efforts to get bills SB 606 and AB 1668 through the California Legislature set the State on track to identify and cut down on egregious water waste, improve water management planning, advance water use data collection and transparency, and implement other important water saving measures. The passage of these bills was a critical step toward a more resilient and secure water future for California’s communities, environment, and economy, and would not have been possible without Tracy’s hard work and mastery of California water issues.

I am confident that Tracy will continue succeeding in her efforts to ensure access to a safe, affordable, and resilient supply of drinking water for the people of Los Angeles as she takes on this new role.
