Just-for-Show Hearing Won’t Stop Clean Energy and Climate Action

WASHINGTON – In response to today’s Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing on the implications of the Supreme Court ‘stay’ of the federal Clean Power Plan, David Doniger, director of the Climate and Clean Air Program at the Natural Resources Defense Council, made this comment:

“Today’s just-for-show hearing just reaffirms the GOP leadership's failure to act on climate change. Republican leaders who put their pencils down on sensible climate protections years ago have no right to tell responsible governors, utilities and clean energy entrepreneurs to do the same. They live in a bubble, but the world outside will keep moving forward with actions that accelerate the transition to a clean energy future.”
