Senators’ Energy Principles Point our Country in the Right Direction

WASHINGTON (June 29, 2015) – Forty-five Senators – including every Democrat - today asked the nation’s governors to join the federal government in updating energy policies.  In a letter, the senators outlined a series of common-sense principles, including: investing in clean energy, empowering consumers, modernizing our aging power infrastructure, cutting pollution and reducing energy waste, and investing in clean energy research and development.

The following is a statement from Rhea Suh, President of the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“These senators are pointing our country in the right direction. Their guiding principles show how we can reduce our dependence on fossil fuels while creating sustainable jobs here at home that can’t be shipped overseas.”
