Trump Expected to Nominate McMorris Rodgers as Interior Secretary

WASHINGTON – President-elect Trump today is expected to name Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington as secretary of the Department of the Interior, according to news reports.

The following is a statement by Rhea Suh, president of the Natural Resources Defense Council:

“Time and again, Cathy McMorris Rodgers has sided with big polluters trying to open up our public lands and waters to more and more fossil fuel development, instead of honoring the mission of the department she’s been nominated to head. That mission is to manage and protect our wildlife, and our lands and waters for the benefit of all Americans, today and for tomorrow. That’s the standard she must uphold.”
